As with all OVID hair tools, we’ve implemented active (not passive) hair modifiers. The most noticeable of these is the active infrared emitter embedded into the upper titanium plate. This infrared emitter helps soften and smooth the hair, working perfectly in concert with the heat generated by the ultra-conductive titanium plates.
What’s less noticeable but equally impressive is the port located right next to the infrared emitter. Inside that port is an ultra-powerful negative ion emitter that showers the hair with 73 million ions as the iron opens and closes throughout the styling process. Together, these two technologies leave the hair incredibly smooth, healthy, and absolutely frizz-free.
The “Feel” of the Iron
Now, let’s talk about what I call the “feel” of the iron. I’ve used and tested hundreds (if not more) of straightening irons over my career, and each one has a unique feel. Some are clunky, some are smooth, and some are almost too smooth, causing the hair to slide through without control. My preference is a perfect balance – a smooth slip with just the right amount of grip to create tension and control. The 450ii absolutely nails it, in my opinion. It has just the right amount of slip and grip to work through the hair in limited passes. Plus, the rounded barrel shape allows you to easily spin the device to create loose waves if desired.
